AWE Bilingual Early Learning Tablets

The Children’s Department at Adriance Memorial Library has three bilingual early literacy tablets available for checkout. Each tablet is loaded with early learning activities including science, technology, reading, engineering, art, music, and math. Most activities are in English and Spanish. Several are in various languages, including French, Italian, German, Russian, and Chinese.  The tablets are easy to use and ideal for all learning styles. Auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners will benefit. The content of the games is aligned with academic standards and accessible in a fun and engaging format.

About borrowing a Bilingual Early Learning Tablet:

  • Available to Poughkeepsie Library cardholders, 18 years and older, in good standing, with no fines (lost, billed, or collections fees). Juvenile (J) or Teen Limited cards cannot be used to borrow a tablet.
  • Loan period is twenty-one (21) Days, and non-renewable.
  • Tablets must be returned with all components to a staff member on the children’s floor (2nd Floor) at the Adriance Memorial Branch at 93 Market Street.
  • Contents include: tablet with the protective bumper cover on it, cord with charger, carrying bag, carrying strap, and laminated instruction sheet.

Fines (the PPLD Fine Free Policy does not apply to AWE Early Learning Tablets):

  • If the tablet is NOT returned by the due date, the borrower will be charged $5 per day for each day late.
  • If the cord with charger, protective bumper cover, strap, or carrying bag are missing or damaged, there will be a charge of $10 for each item.
  • If returned in the book drop, or at Boardman Road, or Family Partnership branches there will be a $20 fee.
  • If the tablet screen is damaged, the borrower will be charged $50.
  • If the tablet is stolen or lost, the borrower will be charged for the entire cost of $500.
