Mystery Mondays

This group usually meets on the last Monday of the month from 11 am to noon at the Boardman Road Branch Library, 141 Boardman Road.  Discussions are led by Eleanor Charwat and Suzanne Christensen. For further information, contact Suzanne Christensen.

Summer/Fall Theme: Locked Room Mysteries

August 28: Good Morning, Midnight by Reginald Hill
Detectives investigate an apparent locked room suicide in Yorkshire, England. The investigation heats up when they learn that this suicide was committed exactly 10 years after the victim’s father committed suicide in the same way.



September 25: The Vanished Man by Jeffery Deaver
At a prestigious New York music school, a murderer flees the scene and locks himself in a classroom. The police arrive, but the killer vanishes. Using eyewitness and forensic clues, forensic expert Lincoln Rhyme pursues a world-class magician.



Fall/Winter Theme: British Isles

October 30: Faithful Place by Tana French

Frank Mackey, head of the Garda’s Dublin Murder Squad, left Faithful Place many years ago when he and Rosie Daly planned to elope. She never showed up, so he went alone. Now, more than twenty years later, Rosie’s suitcase is found in a deserted house and Frank must return to the “bubbling cauldron of crazy” that is his family and his street.


November 27: Water Like Stone by Deborah Crombie

At Christmas time, Duncan Kincade and Gemma James are in the English countryside, visiting Duncan’s sister and parents. Shortly after their arrival, Duncan’s sister, Juliet, finds a baby in the wall of a barn she is renovating. Later, a retired social worker is murdered, and Juliet discovers a shocking secret about her former employer.


December 11: The Rich and the Profane by Jonathan Gash

Antique dealer  Lovejoy is  perpetually broke, slightly shady, but unforgettably charming, Trying to help identify valuable antiques in the priory, Lovejoy and his friend Gesso find and steal a valuable painting. But then Gesso disappears, and Lovejoy travels to the Channel Islands to try and find him.
