Caregiver Collection

The Caregiver Collection is comprised of a multimedia selection of books and videos that provide support and assistance to those caring for a loved one. Initiated by the County Office for the Aging, there are resources on housing choices for the elderly and other topics, including health issues.

During the renovation and expansion of Adriance Memorial Library, the Collection is temporarily housed at the Arlington Branch Library.

Children's Museum Passes

Mid-Hudson Children's Museum logo Free passes to the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum are available in the Children's Room at the Adriance Memorial Library. You must have a valid library card to use this service. To reserve a pass, please call the Children's Room at (845) 485-3445 x3320.




Extension Services

extension services man - Ext Serv Extension Services is a home delivery program of circulating library materials, including books, audiobooks, videos, DVDs and CDs. This service is offered to residents of the city and town of Poughkeepsie who cannot access the library because of age or physical disability. To apply, call the Adriance Memorial Library at (845) 485-3445 x3307.

 


Foundation Center

Adriance Memorial Library's Foundation Center Cooperating Collection welcomes non-profit organizations seeking funding to use free resources in the library including Foundation Directory Online, the Foundation Center's comprehensive database of grant makers in the United States. In addition, Adriance's Cooperation Collection has books and videos to check out on non-profit management, fundraising, public relations and many other topics relevant to non-profits. Hearing Impaired? Spanish speaker? Interpretype is your answer! Stop by the Check-out Desk at the Adriance Memorial Library, and see our new computer designed to help you "talk" to us! For more information, call (845) 485-3445.

Job Tests

person taking a test The Job Tests collection at the Adriance Memorial Library consists of civil service test preparation materials, including the CSEA test booklets and job certification exam preparation books. All materials may be checked out by patrons.


 

Large Print Collection

In search of large print books? Visit the Arlington Branch, the Library District's primary site for its popular reading collection in large print! Call (845) 454-9301 for more information.

Notary services are available at the Adriance Memorial Library. Call (845) 485-3445 x3300 for staff availability.

Parenting Collection

The Parenting Collection is located in the Children's Room at the Adriance Memorial Library, and includes books, videos and DVDs on general parenting topics and those geared toward the parenting of a special needs child. Subjects like autism, learning disabilities, and topics related to child development and psychology are covered for early childhood through elementary years. Preschooler Learning Center

Logo for Preschooler Learning CenterThe Preschooler Learning Center is located in the Family Partnership in the City of Poughkeepsie and is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The Center has Discovery Stations that feature areas for 3-5 year-old children and their adult caregivers to participate in free play or directed activities. Spanish Language Collection

The Spanish Language Collection at the Adriance Memorial Library provides information, movies, books on tape and reading materials, such as fiction, classics and magazines, for Spanish-speaking adults on subjects including citizenship, learning English and health issues. There are also bilingual and Spanish language books available in the children's collections at Adriance Memorial Library and the Arlington Branch Library.
